Black and White Birthday Cake

June 23rd, 2012 - Setamping Apin Apin Keningau. A lot of times we could not remember everyone's birthday.  Especially like my family from my mother side is huge? We have tall and huge family tree and still expanding now 47 grand children of 8 family members and more than 50 great grandchildren?  Since we are huge, hardly see everyone in the family & some are overseas over mountain, only come back once or twice a year. Our uncles, aunties and oldest grand children of Dato Angian decided to form an association to gather everyone at least once a year during Christmas or Easter?  DAGASO (Dato Angian Grandchild Association) is formed after our grandfather's name Dato Angian in the 90's.    It is now actively run by our current President Mr. Alan Julian Angian. Recently we have visited and donated the girls domintory in Apin-Apin.  It was great exposure to our little cousins to let them experience what is life about outside the real world.

We try to make something really big each year, this association died off after few years because everyone was pretty busy with their own lifes.  However, we went back on again 2 years back. Everyone in the family was very supportive and contributed a lot to this association. 

Anyways, this day was actually to celebrate belated Harvest Festival.  At least 250 of our own relatives came to join this happy moment.  Food was absolutely wicked!!  We have had the whole 2 long tables filled with great food (pot luck style).  There were also a lot of lucky draw gifts, traditional games one of my favorite was hitting the gong while blind folded, local food competition, kids body builder and the high light for this event was the kids beauty peagant 22 contestant (pretty serious) lol.  I enjoyed myself and did not expect so many of my cousins came to celebrate this occassion. 

I baked this 2 tiers fruit cake for the opening ceremony followed by the birthday celebrant for June babies in our family.  I was glad that they loved my cakes.  I am looking forward to Christmas lets see what are the surprises next!

I wish DAGASO well and to Mr President keep up the great work!

Canon EOS 5D Cake

June 22nd, 2012 - One of the advantage of having working with so many hotels you picked up new friends...Typical Hotelier Me!!  Elly is also one of my ex co-worker at Novotel Kota Kinabalu.  She was one of the coolest senior sales manager, she patiently helped me out with my unfamiliar work.  Anyways, Elly now is working in Singapore, thanks to FB we managed to keep in touch from there. 

This was Elly's 2nd order from me.  I love this technology!! She wanted to surprise her dad in Kota Kinabalu and she started sending few samples for me to view.  A Canon Camera??  Wow ok!  I thought it was quite Challenging!  Whatever that is I take the challenge... 

I love surprises (only if it was good), I love to see the expression of the recepient...ok provided that I deliver the right product :)  So far so good!!  Phewww!!   

Previously, Elly ordered a 4kg Pure Butter Cake with Butter Icing on Lami design for her uncle Datuk Hong.  They loved it!!  So this time, she decided to have fondant icing for a change.  She requested Fruit Cake to suit her dad's favorite.  I normally put some whisky or brandy to my rich fruit cake but since she did not want any alcohol, I use brewed coffee to replace it.  This is to enhance the aroma and color of the cake.

I woke up at 5:00am to work on the Camera details.  Niceand quiet..I love it! Yeah!  I finished 2 hours ahead praise the lord!  While waiting for her sister to pick up, I managed to give a very last detail to the camera.  It was great challenge and I love it!

June 21st, 2012 - Moyog Penampang.  Our 2nd catering in Moyog Water Treatment Plants organized by Corporate Dynamics Sdn Bhd.  This time the organizer wanted something light and easy, something local and something elegant.  She informed me that there will be American representatives coming to have an inspection at their place for upgrading.  Ok so I lighten up the room with a little bit of colors, some turquoise, some green and lots of white plus suddenly I was inspired by the Baliness wooden art work so I top it up at the beverage counter to enhance the feeling of modern local setup.

We have prepared a mixture of local and western spread but most of them were local.  All local delicacies, chicken and egg sandwich, assorted cakes and fruits.

June 16th, 2012 - Keningau double happiness. While everyone else was busy for the Prime Minister visit in Keningau.  We were busy preparing food to serve for our catering today.  It was a blessing day for Mr & Mrs Lupang for their new Grotto celebration followed by the father's day fellowship luncheon. 

So we have just finished delivering our catering services for Priscella's hi-tea wedding in Keningau last week and this week we delibrately drove back to Keningau to deliver our yet another finest catering service.  I was delighted to hear that she loved our setup during Pricella's wedding and she was wondering if we could provide the same service for her in conjunction with the Feast of Mary Immaculate? So I went to see her place, I thought she suits country setup.  I love her spacious backyard if only it was a garden party it would be perfect!   Since we only have a week to prepare we could only do the simpliest setup.  We used lace, flowers, basket and a lot of the old things to make it feel country scenic.  

As for the food, we have prepared all local dishes to suit the taste of her invited guests.  The winner for this spread is the local vegetable "Taduk Ikan Masin with coconut sauce"  everyone seemed to love and enjoyed this dish.  Fish came the second place, followed by the chicken in dark soy sauce.  Some desserts all locally inspired and not forgetting tropical fruits.


It was all good.  We finished at 2:00pm after clearing we shot up back to Kota Kinabalu for another catering in Penampang.

June 15th, 2012 -Pandora Suria Sabah Kota Kinabalu.  How lucky is to have sales with light refreshment served during your purchase.  I was informed that Pandora is a sister company to Habib Jewel and is it slightly cheaper than any other place in Asia.  So why shop anywhere else? Pandora has come to Kota Kinabalu to make your dreams come true. 

This was the second time Pandora has invited us to cater for them, I was very delighted to have another opportunity like this.  I love to work on something simple.  I like the black and white cabinet they kept in their room.  I asked for permission if I could use them for a day to do something different to the outlook?  Maybe it was my lucky day.  They say go ahead and do my magic!!   I love that!!  I placed the cutleries, glass and serviette paper on the white cabinet and on the other side of the table I placed the black cabinet for the cookies.  They were impressed of the idea *wink* Simple yet out of the box they say :)

I am always pleased they like my setup though nothing fancy but it was always very simple yet elegant.  Thank you Diana for having us.  Chayo chayo on your sales!!

June 9th, 2012 - I was happy to receive this order.  It is one of my favourite cartoon character..Praise Lord everything went well, cake looked perfect and I finished the figurine in total of 7 hours...ya that long ha ha ha..pheww looks simple but lots of twist and turn hehehe...But all and all I was happy with the outcome.

June 2nd, 2012 - This was interesting cake.  I have never thought a 3 year old boy would request such cake.  A garbage truck??  Well ok it's quite challenging but I was sure I can do it.  I was impressed by this little baby boy, he is 3 today but he loves cleanliness.  I told his mom that he'll be our next mayor.

 Oh ok so he also wanted chocolate cake with buttercream icing...tadaaaaa....I think this truck looks ok he he he...

Happy Birthday Caspian Ryder Aswald!!  I wish all the best and hope you'll grow up to be a leader.

June 2nd, 2012 - Congratulations to the newly engaged couple.  This cake is pretty special to me.  I have had a little challenge dressing this cake, I've just realized at the last moment I did not have enough fondant but praise god I managed to dress this cake perfectly at one shot for both cakes!!  This cake was taken to Tambunan which is 2hours drive from Kota Kinabalu.  I hope it has arrived to it's destination safe and sound.  Thank you Suzu for believing in me.  She trusted my ability to create this cake and I hope everyone enjoyed this cake and remembered me...he he he...
